How to Fix TV No Signal
A "No Signal" message on your TV is almost always caused by a loose connection, an aerial issue, or a channel tuning problem rather than a TV fault.
Likely causes
- Loose or damaged aerial or HDMI cable
- Wrong input source selected on the TV
- Freeview channels need retuning
- Aerial signal too weak
- Transmitter maintenance in your area
Step-by-step fix
-
1
Check the input source
Press the Source or Input button on your remote and select the correct input โ HDMI 1, HDMI 2, Aerial/Freeview, etc.
-
2
Check all cable connections
Ensure the aerial cable, HDMI cable, or satellite cable is firmly plugged in at both ends. Unplug and replug each cable.
-
3
Retune your channels
For Freeview: go to Menu โ Settings โ Channels โ Auto-retune. This is required when TV transmitters update their frequencies.
-
4
Check for transmitter issues
Visit the Freeview website (freeview.co.uk/help) and enter your postcode to check for local transmitter issues or maintenance.
-
5
Try a different cable
If using HDMI, try a different cable or a different port on the TV.
-
6
Check your aerial
A damaged, poorly positioned, or weathered aerial can cause signal loss. If your neighbours have signal and you do not, your aerial may be the issue.
